Job Descrition: Membership Secretary

Main purpose of role:

  • To be directly responsible for the management of all Club's Membership
Actual duties involved:
  • To collect all annual Membership Fees including those of Life, Vice Presidents, Social Members, Youth & Mini's, Family and Players, etc.
  • To liaise with the Treasurer on financial planning for the club to ensure adequate funds are generated from Membership
  • To be responsible for maintaining a register of the Membership ensuring all contact detrails are recorded
  • To ensure all fees are recorded in the register and paid to Treasurer
  • To distribute a copy of the Membership Register to the Committee and display a copy in the Clubhouse
  • To issue Club Membership cards when fees are paid enabling Members only to have access to Clubhouse facilities
  • To ensure that all players pay their membership fees and, if appropriate, inform the Committee of non-payment so that action may be taken to suspend players from playing or taking part in Club activities until their fees are paid.
  • Ensure all Members receive their Club tie
  • To ensure the Club provides hospitality facilities for Membership at home games
  • To liaise with Head Coach, Club Captain and Team Captains to ensure all contact details (particularly mobile telephone numbers) are kept up to date and recorded centrally
  Liaison with:   
  • All Committee Members and sub-committees
  • Club Captain, Treasurer and Chairman
  • Club Membership

  The post holder will be responsible to: The Executive Management Committee  

Meetings to attend

  • Executive Management Committee Meetings
  • Finance & Funding Committee
  • Governance & Administration Committee
  • Annual General Meeting, if appropriate
  • Sub Committees by request

  Term of role: The Membership Secretary will be appointed for one year at a time, with the expectation that the post holder will retain the role for a maximum of 3 years.
